Committee members asked about schedule and cost; staff said bids were opening that week and, if prices are favorable, the infield turf work would be scheduled for this fall so fields are ready for next season’s use.
Staff clarified the plan is phase one: install turf in the infield and bullpen areas only. Because an all-turf outfield is cost-prohibitive, the district would keep the outfield as grass and consider a future phase for outfield turf if funding allows.
The consent agenda that included the donation was approved by the committee by voice vote.
