Michelle Kirkby was elected chair of the Medfield School Committee during the board’s Aug. 25 reorganization meeting. The committee closed nominations after a voice vote and approved the slate of officers for the 2025–26 school year.
Dr. Marson opened the reorganization and moved the slate. Committee members approved a vice-chair nomination for Diana and voted to install Leo Brown as recording secretary; a later roll call confirmed committee members present.
The reorganization occurred at the start of the committee’s first meeting of the academic year, which also included routine consent items: approval of minutes, superintendent appointments to district collaboratives, and student-activity account transfers. Board members discussed a $45,000 donation from Medfield Youth Baseball & Softball for Schillingfield turf restoration and confirmed that town funding and district revolving funds are also being used for the project.
The committee closed the meeting’s organizational business and moved on to staff reports, handbook updates and other agenda items. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 11.
