Sanford Planning Commission approves Master Plan, annual report and development plans
Summary
The commission voted unanimously to approve a Master Plan and an Annual Report and recorded approval of development plans submitted by Rod Barriger; the Master Plan will be recommended to the Village Council for adoption.
At its June 2 meeting the Village of Sanford Planning Commission approved its Master Plan and voted to recommend the plan to the Village Council.
Commissioner Marlene Glinski moved to approve the Master Plan and Commissioner Taylor Meyette supported the motion. The minutes record the vote as Taylor Meyette: YES, Denise Drake: YES, Carl Hamann: YES, Marlene Glinski: YES. The commission will forward the approved Master Plan to the Village Council for consideration.
Commissioner Taylor Meyette presented an Annual Report summarizing the commission’s work from Jan. 1 through June 1, 2026. Meyette moved to accept the report and Commissioner Carl Hamann seconded; the commission voted unanimously to approve the report.
Under old business the commission approved plans submitted by Rod Barriger; the minutes record the plans were approved and supported by the commission but do not record a mover/second or a vote tally in the text. The minutes also reflect other business items: Meyette told residents that a property at Center and Saginaw Road is in the flood zone and relayed that an inquiry to convert the old Alex Railside Restaurant into a dog/cat kennel was declined because village ordinances do not allow kennels.
Administrative actions recorded at the meeting included approval of the May 7, 2026 minutes (motion by Carl Hamann, second by Taylor Meyette) and adjournment at 6:25 p.m. (motion by Carl Hamann, second by Denise Drake).
