Planning commission urges survey, downtown rezoning and zero-lot-line option

Planning Commission Chairman Mike Durbin presented three proposed planning actions to the Strasburg Village Council on Dec. 17.
Durbin said the commission recommends hiring a surveyor and pursuing a land swap involving property owned by St. John United Church of Christ and village-owned land; the commission believes a survey and possible swap would address property configuration needs.
Durbin also recommended rezoning the only downtown parcel currently zoned B1 to B2, which he said the commission views as a better fit for that area. Third, the commission recommended permitting zero-lot-line splits so a lot could be divided to allow two separate units; Durbin noted Atlee Miller has expressed interest in a property on Fernsell Avenue.
Council discussed the recommendations briefly; the minutes do not record any council vote or directive to staff to implement the changes.
