Saukville board approves trustee and committee appointments, honors two employees for 25 years

Village President Andy Hebein called the Saukville Village Board to order at 7:00 p.m. April 21 at the Saukville Municipal Center and via Zoom. After the Pledge of Allegiance, the board completed a ceremonial oath of office for trustees and handled routine business including appointments and minutes approval.
Trustee appointments were approved “as presented,” following a motion by Trustee Pamela Duckart and a second from Trustee Jim Nowlen; the motion was recorded as carried. The board likewise approved committee appointments on a motion by Trustee Wendy Smith with a second from Nowlen, and it approved the minutes of the April 8, 2026 meeting on the same Smith/Nowlen motion. The minutes record no recorded roll-call tallies beyond the notation “Motion Carried.”
The village administrator announced several upcoming community events: a ribbon-cutting for Red Stone Kitchen at 470 E. Green Bay Ave. on April 22, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.; the Ansay Development — Paape Family Farms single-family homes groundbreaking on April 23, 2026 at 3:30 p.m.; and the Saukville Elementary School groundbreaking at 309 Orchard Ln. on May 15, 2026 at 12:30 p.m. Officials also asked that residents RSVP to Clerk Julie Friede for the Mid‑Moraine dinner meeting Saukville will host May 27; the minutes list May Finance Committee and May Village Board meeting dates of May 5 and May 26, 2026, respectively.
Under committee reports, the minutes state that most standing committees had no items for the board. The record notes that Trustee Brandon Donen was listed as joining via Zoom in the attendance roll but also includes a separate line saying Donen was not in attendance; the minutes nevertheless record that Donen reported on the Library Board meeting of April 14, 2026. The minutes do not explain that apparent contradiction.
The board paused business to present years-of-service awards. Chief Rob Meyer presented the Police Department award to Robert Ramthun for 25 years of service. Matthew Karpinski presented the Fire Department award to Jason Laabs for 25 years of service. Village President Hebein thanked both employees for their commitment to the community.
Trustee Bill Rudolph moved to adjourn the meeting; Trustee Wendy Smith seconded. The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m. The minutes were prepared by Village Clerk Julie Friede.
