Road commissioner presents $16,000 blacktopping quote for Ingraham Road; tree warden to mark removals

At the July 22 meeting of the New Ashford Select Board, Road Commissioner Keith Lacasse reported he received a quote from Donovan of $16,000 to blacktop Ingraham Road; the quote excludes the cost of the blacktop material. Lacasse said the town could pay for the work with Fair Share funds. He told property owners on Bondhu that the town does not maintain their road and advised them to contact the Conservation Commission before undertaking repairs because of the road's proximity to the river. Lacasse also said a Roys Road resident complained about overhanging trees and that a Beach Hill Road resident requested removal of tree branches left after a storm; utility crews had cut a tree and left debris on both sides of the road. He said the town will seek written permission before removing trees that are on private property but threaten the public way and discussed options for disposing of storm-generated tree waste, including using a town parcel on Ingraham Road. New Tree Warden Mario Gagliardi will mark trees for removal, and Select Board member Mark Phelps will provide existing tree information to Gagliardi.
