MLP manager: Whip City to absorb some repair costs; aerial fiber hookups estimated at $1,100 each

Ken McInerney, the town’s Municipal Light Plant manager, updated the board on recent fieldwork and customer requests at the Aug. 19 meeting. Following a ride-out with contractor Whip City, Ken said Whip City agreed to absorb the cost of an Ingraham Road relash if the town approves the ride-out rework. For 276 Route 7, Whip City will provide the material while the town will cover labor.
Two customer locations—205 Mallery Road and 274 Route 7—requested aerial fiber hookups; Whip City estimated an approximate charge of $1,100 per hookup. Ken said he will ask Whip City whether the price would be reduced if both hookups are performed the same day and that the MLP will evaluate whether grant funds can be used to offset those costs.
Ken also said the MLP is responsible for two new poles on Cemetery Road and that he planned to ride routes with Road Commissioner Keith Lacasse to identify vegetation needing trimming. Keith must obtain MSP clearances before work on Route 7. Ken reported he has not received an update on an insurance claim. The town discussed the Fire Station phone installation and an equipment-upgrade meeting pending with John Leary.
