A resident asked whether the town planned to take property permanently. Select Board members and staff clarified that easements sought are primarily for access, temporary construction work and utility pole locations, and the state will pay for the bridge construction. They said the town is not permanently taking private land and that temporary easements would be restored after construction.
The article passed by substantial majority, 55 yes to 2 no. Officials noted the bridge project has reached the top of the state's list for funding but that construction may not occur until 2026 or 2027; the town must provide the required easements before state contractors begin work.
