The City Council received updates from the Memorial Villages Police Department and the Village Fire Department and approved a budget amendment to support fire-department equipment needs.
Sgt. Jarvis reported that MVPD handled 1,945 calls for service in March, investigated two car burglaries involving contractor vehicles (using the ALPR system to identify a suspect), assisted Houston Police Department on a home-invasion call, and noted vehicle upfits for three new Tahoe patrol vehicles and detective vehicles. Chief Schultz was absent to attend a conference.
On fire operations, Chief Dewitt and Chief Miller (via Zoom) reported an average response time of 5 minutes 39 seconds in March, one firefighter on injury leave, and the ordering of a new ladder truck to replace a vehicle involved in a traffic accident. The department is exploring leasing a ladder truck temporarily until the new truck arrives.
Councilmember Keith Brown moved and Councilmember Carl Moerer seconded approval of Budget Amendment 2025-02 for $110,000 to the Village Fire Department’s FY2025 budget with no additional assessments; the motion carried 3-0.
