Rushford Village council adopts emergency plan and write-in vote rule, renews interim use permit and tables rock purchase

Councilors also approved CRV Resolution 2026-04-21, selecting Option 2 for write-in vote counting. Under Option 2 the city will record individual write-in votes only if the total number of write-ins for an office meets a threshold tied to the lowest non-write-in total, consistent with guidance reported from Fillmore County Auditor Heather Broadwater. The council approved the resolution by motion of Robert Hart, seconded by Travis Link.
The council renewed the Featherstone Farms/Jack Hedin interim use permit for 2026–2027; Planning and Zoning Administrator Jon Pettit presented the item and the council approved the renewal (motion by Robert Hart, second Mike Ebner). The council also approved routine financials earlier in the meeting.
On procurement related to road materials, staff presented 2026 quotes from Bruening Rock and Milestone Materials for Class 2 and ice rock. Councilors requested additional time to compare the bids and tabled award of the rock contract to the May 5 meeting (motion by Travis Link, second Rick Ruberg).
