The Aumsville City Council approved the purchase of a 2026 Ford F‑150 police responder and equipment, authorizing use of the vehicle replacement fund (2811) and noting the appropriation is included in the next fiscal year starting July 1.
A police department representative said the department has funds available in the replacement account and that the truck was chosen for its flexibility in transporting training gear, event supplies and other materials the department currently hauls in personal vehicles. “It is pursuit rated,” the representative said, adding that the truck is four‑wheel drive and better suited to the department’s operational needs.
Staff noted that the Ford was selected because it is currently the available pursuit‑rated truck; other manufacturers offer trucks used for supervisory or limited deployment roles but not daily operations. The council moved to approve purchase of the described vehicle and equipment at a cost recorded in the meeting as $73,196.55; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Staff said the department expected to place the order now and to receive the vehicle in the fall.
