Selectmen reported the town has ordered 52 Hometown Heroes banners and expects a second round after delivery, with the goal of installation by Memorial Day.
Events Committee Chair Jennifer Crane listed several upcoming May events including Grooving at the Depot, an AHA fundraiser at the VFW, the Douglas Library plant sale May 16, and a Vendor Market May 31 at Bunny McGuire Park; volunteers are asked to sign up online. Kathy Keane described the town's 250th Anniversary picnic “Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Appleness” on June 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a flag raising on a 75-foot liberty pole, children in costume, music, games and free hot dogs and apple pie.
Officials thanked volunteers for Town Cleanup Day and the Beautification Committee for Arbor Day. The meeting also reminded residents that the high school budget referendum is May 5, May 11 is the last day to change political affiliation to vote in a primary, and that dog registration runs June 1–30 with fees of $8 for altered dogs and $19 for unaltered dogs; a penalty applies for late registration.
