Warrants and payroll: The committee approved two accounts-payable warrants totaling $202,918.87 (May 20 warrant $126,285.88; June 3 warrant $76,632.99) after a finance subcommittee recommendation. The committee also approved two payroll warrants totaling $2,198,004.85, which include summer ‘‘balloon’’ payments for teachers and paraprofessionals.
LES handbook changes: The committee approved revisions to the Lee Elementary School handbook, including renaming “dean” to “assistant principal,” clarifying behavior consequences for the breakfast program, adding winter‑clothing guidance (no hats/hoods), updating lockdown‑drill language, adding MCAS absence form rules, expanding tobacco policy to include vaping and e‑cigarettes, and including a state-required district language access statement. These changes are effective next school year.
Prepaying private special-education tuition: Under M.G.L. c.71, §71D, the committee authorized using FY26 general funds to prepay up to three months of out-of-district private special-education tuition to create a cushion for FY27. The staff identified $80,347.84 available for this prepayment, supported in part by increased circuit-breaker (fair-share) funds the district received.
Donation: The committee accepted an in-kind donation from the Lee Youth Commission to install aluminum bleachers and a tow package at the softball field. Committee members estimated the donation’s value at about $20,000 and confirmed the equipment met safety and material standards.
Reorganization and minutes: The committee elected (by voice) Mr. Langlois as chair and Nicole Kucharski as vice chair for FY2027 and approved meeting minutes from May 12, 2026.
