Pella commissioners consider $150 membership in preservation alliance; chair to attend Preserve Iowa Summit

Chairperson Rhonda Kermode brought forward the possibility of the City of Pella joining the National Alliance of Preservation Commissions, noting an annual membership fee for Pella would be $150 and that membership would provide a discount for Preserve Iowa Summit tickets.
Planning and Zoning Director Gerald Buydos said he will investigate whether the city could join. Kermode also reported that she plans to attend the 2026 Preserve Iowa Summit in Ankeny on June 2–3.
No formal membership decision was made at the meeting; staff will report back with information about feasibility and any budget implications.
