Residents report persistent Pinehurst drainage and ask district to investigate

During the public-comment portion of the River Ridge Community Development District meeting, resident Shari Perkins told the Board that, a week after a pipe was plugged, drainage problems continue and “water has been overflowing in the triangle monument area.” Perkins said resident Fred Kronke reported a retention pond that drains between River 8 and River 9 “appears to be non-functional; ponding is occurring and is nearly 1' above the drain,” and asked the Board to address two drains on either side of the Pinehurst monument.
District Engineer John Baker explained that before plugging the inlet water from another system was backing up and flowing through the pipe into a lower system; plugging stopped the cross-system inflow but left the water with “no place for the water to go” and the result is “akin to a very tiny pond in a pipe.” Baker said resolving the issue will likely require additional study and asked residents to provide photographs or video of the flooding; Ms. Perkins said she will provide video to district staff.
The Board directed the District Engineer to view the drainage firsthand and to work with staff on next steps, including engineering study if needed. Chuck Adams, District Manager, noted the pipes in question ultimately drain into the Estero River and described the path of the outflow across residential property and the golf course.
The Board did not take a formal vote on a repair plan at the meeting; staff will gather visual evidence and report back.
