Dolores County approves Senior Services ADA demand-response compliance plan

The Dolores County Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved and signed an updated Senior Services ADA demand-response compliance plan after a staff presentation explaining edits made following a site visit and consultant templates.

Senior Services staff told the board they had circulated the draft and that a regional C-DOT reviewer had "said that it looked good," and staff asked the board to sign the plan. The presenter said the plan replaces the prior paratransit-focused document with a demand-response compliance plan and adds a reasonable-modification policy so staff can accommodate riders with disabilities "as long as it doesn't" alter core service operations.

Commissioners asked for clarification about how the policy had been applied in the past and whether there had been incidents that required exclusion. The presenter and board members described one clear instance that had required separate handling; the board noted staff tries to accommodate riders while balancing service safety and continuity.

A commissioner moved to approve the plan; the motion was seconded and carried with unanimous vocal approval. County staff signed the document at the meeting and said they would file it with the appropriate agencies.

The action is procedural: it updates county compliance materials to reflect site-visit findings and clarifies reasonable-modification steps for Senior Services. The board did not take separate budget action for this item and did not amend service levels at this meeting.
