Rec Commission flags lifeguard gaps, seeks pool-camera access

At its March 17 meeting, the North Canaan Recreation Commission discussed staffing and safety ahead of the summer season, noting uncertainty in lifeguard availability and raising a request to expand staff access to pool security cameras.
Director Adam Bunce told commissioners that two lifeguards have said they will not return and one remains undecided; "right now, there are six prepared to come back and another one getting certified in April," he said, adding, "Hopefully, there will be at least one more." Commissioners discussed whether additional recruitment or certification timelines are needed to ensure adequate coverage for swim programs.
The commission also discussed pool camera access and general maintenance: Chairwoman Lindsay Crane said she would speak with Ron about providing Director Bunce access to the pool cameras and about painting the tennis court backboard. No formal direction or vote was recorded; the items were noted as operational follow-ups.
