Berkshire Regional Planning reports progress toward housing grant goals

Brett, representing Berkshire Regional Planning, updated the Sheffield Board of Selectmen on a housing-related grant program and said the regional effort has deemed 10 applications income-eligible toward an overall goal of 15 qualified projects.
Brett reported that approximately 5% of the program funds have been committed so far and that four project bidding dates are scheduled in September; he said those bids could push committed funds to about 30% by the end of the month. He also noted six applications arrived in the previous week and that the program has until next June to meet its goals.
The regional planner thanked the town for outreach support and said he would coordinate with town staff (Rhonda) about whether monthly or bimonthly updates make sense going forward. The update included operational details about EMT training classes sponsored via grants through Berkshire Community College and an acknowledgement that final monetary goals will depend on bid results.
