Windsor Locks Curriculum Committee reviews Amplify Math and Pre-AP pilots and plans website updates

Dr. Rebecca Bissonnette, Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment for Windsor Locks Public Schools, told the Board of Education Curriculum Committee on June 17 that the district will pilot the Amplify Math curriculum at South Elementary and in selected high school math courses during the 2026–27 school year.
Bissonnette said the South Elementary pilot would include two teachers from each grade level and that the district was awarded the pilot at no cost. She told the committee that Windsor Locks High School will pilot Amplify Math in Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry and Probability & Statistics to support a coherent pathway across grade bands.
Bissonnette also described a separate, no-cost pilot of College Board Pre-AP resources in Windsor Locks High School honors mathematics courses. She said the Pre-AP materials are intended to strengthen instructional coherence, support rigorous honors-level learning experiences and provide clearer alignment for students enrolled in honors mathematics classes.
Committee members discussed the importance of ensuring student access to high-quality learning opportunities and that instructional materials align with the district’s broader curriculum goals. The minutes record the discussion but do not show a formal vote or action to adopt the materials; both pilots were presented as planned pilots for 2026–27.
The committee also received an update on work to organize and present curriculum information in a consistent format on the district website. Bissonnette said the effort is intended to improve transparency for families and to meet state requirements for publicly available curriculum information; members emphasized the need for clarity, accessibility and consistent course and unit descriptions across content areas.
Committee members reviewed the May 5, 2026 Curriculum Committee minutes, which were accepted as presented. There was no public comment. At 5:24 p.m., Lindsay Cutler moved to adjourn; Amber Mortensen-Hurdle seconded the motion. The minutes were signed by Dr. Rebecca Bissonnette as Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment.
