The Manchester City Council approved a package of measures at its meeting, adopting the city’s annual budget for fiscal year 2025–26 and authorizing staff to pursue federal grant funding for airport runway rehabilitation, while also approving easements for downtown lighting and a $20 bulk-item collection sticker fee.
After opening a public hearing on the proposed budget, council members cast recorded assent and adopted Resolution 38 to approve the annual budget for July 1, 2025–June 30, 2026. No members of the public spoke during the hearing.
The council also acknowledged receipt of a single bid for the runway-rehabilitation project and approved a motion directing the city manager to submit an application to the Federal Aviation Administration to pursue grant funding for the work; the council did not award the construction contract at this meeting but moved to pursue funding. Staff said existing airport improvement program funds and federal match rules will inform the grant application.
Council adopted Resolution 39 to approve easements with two property owners to install lights and cables on South Franklin Street as part of a downtown streetscape project supported by the Manchester Vitality Endowment.
On a separate item, the council discussed and approved a resolution setting the city fee for bulk-item collection stickers at $20; the city purchased an initial 50 stickers at cost and will monitor demand.
