Separately, a representative of F&M Bank asked to extend a planned June block party closure and to allow earlier vendor setup, saying vendor crews may need access as early as 10:00 a.m. and the event could run until midnight for the bank’s centennial celebration. Council approved closing part of Main Street for the event on June 7.
Chamber of Commerce director Laura Holtz requested a beverage tent for River Days at the Whitewater Park on June 6; the Rotary Club will staff the tent and the chamber will provide insurance. "They're going to work it and then they will receive the profits," Holtz said, adding the tent will be limited to the event hours and covered by existing insurance procedures. Council approved the beverage tent and authorized staff to manage timing and a limited street closure for the Chamber’s "Ridiculous Days" sidewalk-sales event on June 19 if only a short closure is needed.
Council members asked practical questions about setup times, circulation and parking and recorded unanimous or near-unanimous votes for the permits. The decisions were taken as routine approvals; where council granted staff discretion (notably for the June 19 event), staff will finalize hours and traffic-control details.
The council’s approvals also included standard conditions for insurance and vendor coordination. No formal oppositions were recorded in the meeting minutes; next steps are permit paperwork and staff coordination on closures and traffic control.
