Commissioners approve bridge guardrail purchase and engineering contract for debris removal

At the meeting the Dickinson County Board of Commissioners approved two procurement actions on the consent and business agendas.

The board approved the purchase of structural steel, decking, sheeting and guardrail for the bridge replacement at 1404 300 Avenue; the packet listed the combined low bids totaling $37,578.88. A commissioner moved, a second was called and the motion passed with the board voting in favor.

The commission also approved a proposal from Calvalli Engineering to supervise debris drift removal at three river bridges (Solomon Road, Eden Road and Jeep Road). Staff described the work as necessary ahead of planned underwater bridge inspections and said the estimated not‑to‑exceed cost was $24,980. Janelle Docking told the board Calvalli would obtain required permits and attempt to keep actual costs below the estimate; commissioners approved the contract while acknowledging that reimbursement from state or federal sources is possible but not guaranteed.

Ending: Staff was directed to notify the appropriate road and bridge staff about procurement approvals and to proceed with vendor coordination.
