Manchester — The City Council unanimously approved a salary resolution for a newly hired police officer and swore in Joshua McCrain at its special meeting on July 1.
McCrain repeated the oath of office and told the council he was born and raised in Waterloo, served in the U.S. Navy and later worked in private security before joining the Manchester Police Department. Council members and staff invited the officer and his family forward for photos and welcomed him to the force.
The council took a formal motion to approve the salary resolution for the hire during the meeting’s initial business. The motion was moved and seconded and passed by voice/roll-call after brief acknowledgment from the mayor and council. No further salary details beyond the existence of the salary-resolution vote were provided on the record at the meeting.
The swearing-in and vote were followed by brief departmental and community updates. The council scheduled follow-up operational items and public-works topics for the committee-of-the-whole portion of the session.
