Council weighs buying demo street sweeper to replace aging unit

Multiple members favored placing the purchase authorization on the Monday agenda to allow formal action, while at least one council member said being two years ahead of schedule on replacement posed a fiscal hurdle and preferred delaying purchase until more firm maintenance-cost data were available.
Staff agreed to provide additional maintenance and run-time data for the current sweeper so the council can compare projected maintenance savings and hours-run estimates before final authorization.
