FLOUR BLUFF ISD approves Legify Roofing contract to restore auditorium roof

The FLOUR BLUFF ISD Board of Trustees approved a Bond 2025 contract on June 3 to have Legify Roofing LLC restore the auditorium and command-hall roof, a project district staff described as part of ongoing bond-funded facility work.

Mr. Molina presented the recommended restoration approach: remove loose gravel, clean and dry the surface, apply a bleed blocker, a self-leveling SL800 base coat, and multiple gallons of white high-solid silicone finish. He said the system yields high reflectivity—“it reflects 88 plus% of all UV rays back into the atmosphere instead of being absorbed”—and is offered with a 50-year material warranty and a 20-year NDL warranty.

Contract representatives and trustees discussed technical questions, including core samples and ponding on a flat roof. Mr. Molina said core samples, thermal and ponding tests are required and that the self-leveling base coat will address low spots. The contractor identified project scale at about 34,000 square feet and estimated active work of about 8–10 days, with a two- to three-week schedule anticipated for completion logistics.

Trustees probed comparative options, asking why the district selected silicone restoration over a spray‑foam (SPF) plus coating approach that could add R‑value; Mr. Molina and a contractor representative said the silicone system provides strong warranty coverage, inert performance in ponding water and UV exposure, and favorable pricing in this application.

The motion to approve the award was made, seconded and approved on the record; trustees also noted the project will be procured through the TIPS cooperative, per the presentation.

The district did not provide contract dollar amounts in the public remarks during the meeting. The award is part of the district’s 2025 bond program and staff indicated the project supports broader renovations that include energy- and water-efficiency improvements across campuses.
