Bourne School Committee unanimously approves School Improvement Plans for 2024–25

Administrators presented School Improvement Plans (SIPs) for Bournedale Elementary, Bourne Intermediate, Bourne Middle and Bourne High School at the Sept. 11 meeting. Emily Berry moved to approve the SIPs for SY24–25; the roll-call vote passed 6–0–0.
District officials described the SIPs as the product of years of work and explained the frequent use of an "80 percent" benchmark: educators aim to meet the needs of 80% of students 80% of the time. The superintendent noted that some supporting Extended School Year data will be posted publicly once Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) results are unembargoed.
Presenters included building administrators and the assistant superintendent for learning and teaching, who highlighted targeted goals for each school and cross-district priorities for curriculum and mental health support. The committee’s approval moves the plans into implementation for the 2024–25 school year, with administrators prepared to report progress through normal district monitoring channels.
The vote was unanimous; no amendments were presented during the meeting. The committee did not discuss changes to funding allocations tied to the SIPs during this session.
