SR‑8/Houghton Road traffic signals operating; fire-department detector still pending

Engineer Rich Wasosky told the Village of Northfield council on Feb. 12 that traffic signal installations at SR 8/Houghton Road and SR 8/Maple Avenue are complete and the intersections are operating, though overhead street signs remain to be installed.
Mr. Wasosky said crosswalks and stop bars have been painted and that signal poles and signals near the Fire Department were completed last week. He noted the detector that will activate the Fire Department signal has not yet been installed and said the signal will not be fully active until that detector is in place; he estimated the remaining work would be finished by the end of February.
Mr. Wasosky also reported he had submitted additional paperwork to the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) for the village’s grant request of $106,000 and said he hopes the village receives the money by mid‑March. No construction schedule changes were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The council received the update as part of the engineer’s report; no formal vote was required. The village will monitor detector installation and follow up when the NEORSD grant is processed.
