Village Engineer Rich Wasosky told the council on March 11 that the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) requested additional information before releasing the Village's community cost‑share of $106,000 for the Houghton Road stormwater project, and that he is meeting with the district to resolve accounting questions.
Wasosky said the district wants an itemized accounting of how funds were allocated and that engineering costs cannot be paid upfront until the contractor submits its first bill to the State. He said the Village had allocated stormwater sewers and catch basins as part of the Village's share of the project and that, if the funds cannot be used for Houghton Road, they can be applied to another upcoming project such as Coventry.
Council also considered a $24,000 estimate for playground equipment installation (transport not included). Gary Vojtush offered his trailer for transport and suggested the Service Department could assist; members discussed whether used Parma equipment should be purchased and whether pieces need re‑powder coating or sanding; no formal purchase was approved.
Fire Chief Jason Buss said the Fire Department is prepared to assist with COVID‑19 matters, advised residents to consult the CDC website for up‑to‑date information, and provided Ohio's hotline for questions: 833‑427‑5634.
Wasosky scheduled a meeting with NEORSD accounts staff and expressed hope the issue would be resolved so the community share could be applied to the Houghton Road project or redirected if necessary.
