During the communications portion of its April 1 meeting, the Stronach Township Planning Commission reviewed sample cost-recovery ordinances for fire departments that Zoning Administrator Larry Thompson had left for the commission.
Secretary Daniel Landis said the materials consist of cost-recovery ordinances from several other townships. Commissioners agreed they will review the samples and discuss a possible approach at the next Planning Commission meeting; Mr. Lindeman also provided an additional sample ordinance for consideration.
Why it matters: cost-recovery ordinances set out whether and how a township seeks reimbursement for emergency services or special responses involving fire departments. The commission did not adopt a policy or introduce a motion on the topic at this meeting; members only agreed to review the materials ahead of further discussion.
The item remains on the agenda for the next meeting so commissioners can compare samples and decide whether to draft a local ordinance or recommend another route to the Board of Trustees.
