Stockbridge council votes down alley-title fee payment; resident later says he found deed

The Village of Stockbridge council rejected a motion to pay half of accrued attorney fees and expenses to quiet title to a village alley. Council member Howlett moved the proposal, supported by Council member Fairbotham; the motion recorded no ayes and was opposed by Howlett, Morehouse, Cattell, Fairbotham and President Ogden, and therefore failed.
Later in the public-comment period, resident Tom Ford told the council he had found the alley’s deed in his mother’s home. The minutes record the comment but do not link Ford’s statement to any new motion or administrative follow-up at the meeting.
The failed motion would have approved payment of half the accrued attorney fees of $12,605.60 and $491.84 in expenses. The council’s roll-call record shows the motion had no supporting votes among the members present; the minutes do not record further debate or a revised motion on the alley-sale matter during this meeting.
