Collier school board approves charter renewals, facility contracts and legislative program; approves educator health trust plate with one dissent

At its Feb. 4 meeting the Collier County School Board approved a broad consent agenda covering charter renewals, facilities projects and procurement items, unanimously approved a federal legislative program, and approved a recommendation on management of an educator health trust plate with one dissent.
The board approved all items on the consent agenda after presentation of multiple charter renewals (Innovation Preparatory Academy of Naples; Marco Island Charter Middle School; Naples Classical Academy; RCMA Immokalee Community Academy) and numerous facilities and procurement actions, including guaranteed maximum price (GMP) contract reconciliations and final completions for projects across district schools. The consent agenda also included approval for purchases such as integrated pest management services and design and construction work for synthetic turf and other athletic-field projects. A motion to approve the consent agenda was made by Tim Moshear, seconded by Eric Carter, and carried as recorded in the minutes.
Separately, the board approved the Greater Florida Consortium of School Boards 2026 federal legislative program on a motion by Tim Moshear, seconded by Eric Carter; the vote was recorded as unanimous (5–0).
On item E10, the board recommended approval of the Florida educator health trust plate per employee per month (PEPM) and the management of employee medical benefits. The motion (moved by Eric Carter, seconded by Tim Moshear) carried with four members recorded as voting yes (Eric Carter, Stephanie Lucarelli, Tim Moshear, Jerry Rutherford) and one recorded no vote (Kelly Mason).
Other items of note in the consent agenda included the naming of the Baron Collier High School baseball field as Bob Smith Field and several construction and renovation approvals for campuses across Collier County. Board members reported back from the FSBA annual day in the legislature and agreed by consensus to move future board meetings to a 9 a.m. start time.
