Collier County School Board approves broad consent agenda, renews charter contracts and adopts multiple policy updates
Summary
The board voted unanimously to approve a long consent agenda of purchases, facilities contracts and policy technical changes, renewed several charter contracts, and adopted numerous school policies including Title I services, homebound instruction and student suicide prevention.
The District School Board of Collier County approved a broad consent agenda, renewed multiple charter contracts and adopted several school policy updates during its May 13, 2026 regular meeting.
Board Chair Stephanie Lucarelli opened the meeting and the board recorded unanimous approval to adopt the meeting agenda as amended (motion by Kelly Mason, second by Tim Moshear). The consent agenda covered prior meeting minutes, Head Start reports, multiple teaching and learning purchases and agreements, technology and purchasing renewals, and dozens of facilities‑related guaranteed maximum price reconciliations and final completions across district schools.
Items approved on the consent agenda included, among many others, contract reconciliations and final completions at Calusa Park, Palmetto and Golden Gate elementary schools; purchases for bus cameras and routing software for the transportation department; and technology and classroom materials agreements including Pearson instructional resources and FLVS virtual instruction services. A single motion to approve all consent items was moved by Kelly Mason and seconded by Eric Carter; the board recorded the motion as carried with Eric Carter, Stephanie Lucarelli, Kelly Mason, Tim Moshear and Jerry Rutherford voting in favor.
The board also approved several charter contract renewals moved from consent to new business: Naples Classical Academy, Marco Island Charter Middle School, Innovation Preparatory Academy of Naples and RCMA Immokalee Community Academy were approved by recorded motions. One charter item (Mason Classical Academy 7th amendment) was deferred to the June 3, 2026 regular board meeting at the suggestion of district staff and after board discussion.
In policy business, the board conducted second readings and voted to adopt multiple policy updates, including Policy 2261 (Title I services), Policy 2371 (HOPE scholarships), Policy 2412 (homebound instruction program), Policy 2421 (career and technical education), Policy 2520 (instructional materials and resources), Policy 3211 (whistleblower protection), Policy 5,350 (student suicide prevention, awareness and screening), and other technical policy changes. Most were approved on motions brought by board members (motions and seconds recorded in the meeting record) and carried unanimously.
Additionally, the board approved informational items including an Ave Maria Elementary construction update and later selected Tim Mossier as the FSBA advocacy committee member with Kelly Mason as alternate.
The meeting concluded with public comments, superintendent closing remarks from Dr. Richard Eli and adjournment at 11:12 a.m.
