Board approves participation in Florida Educator Health Trust, appoints trustee over lone dissent

The District School Board of Collier County voted Jan. 20 to recommend approval and authorize signature of a participation agreement with the Florida Educator Health Trust and to appoint Dr. Leslie C. Ricardelli as the district’s trustee to the trust.
Valerie Wenrick, chief human resources officer, presented the E10 item on participation and a per-employee-per-month agreement. The item was moved from the consent agenda to new business prior to discussion. Mr. Myers offered comments during the board discussion. After deliberation, Eric Carter moved to recommend approval and signature of the participation agreement and to appoint Dr. Leslie C. Ricardelli as trustee; Tim Moshear seconded the motion. The motion passed with four board members voting in favor and Kelly Mason recorded as a nay.
There were no public comments recorded on the E10 item during the new-business discussion. The board’s action authorizes staff to execute the participation agreement and designate the appointed trustee per the motion.
