Suttons Bay council appoints resident to library board, hears recycling and community announcements

The Suttons Bay Village Council appointed Carol Bawden to the Suttons Bay Bingham Library Board during its Feb. 17 meeting. The appointment followed a public endorsement from Nellie Danke, director of the Suttons Bay Bingham Library.
Christensen moved and Bahle seconded the appointment; the motion carried 4-0 with three members absent. Danke spoke during public comment and "stated she fully endorses Carol Bawden to be appointed to the Library Board." The council accepted a letter of interest from Bawden as the basis for the appointment.
During public comment, Kelly Slater, speaking for Green Suttons Bay, announced the group is planning a Village beautification day on May 9. In Good of the Order, Councilmember Perkins said the Solid Waste Committee will be talking with municipalities about the recycling program and may introduce a recyclable food-waste program.
Other public comments included Bill Crackel reporting he had reached out to the Department of Public Works about snow piles on municipal parking areas along the 400 block, and Cindy Millns of Bayside Gallery and the Suttons Bay Chamber thanking the Village for assistance with Yeti Fest. The meeting adjourned at 5:46 p.m.
