Planning commission reviews draft driveway standards for alleys; Patmore to consult DPW

At its June 17, 2026 meeting the Suttons Bay Planning Commission reviewed draft language regarding driveway standards for alleys. The planner presented the draft, and commissioners raised questions about why driveways would be required off alleys rather than from major streets, and why some alleys are paved while others are not.
Zoning Administrator Patmore said that "additional recommendations will most likely be made after he meets with the DPW Director and Planner." Commissioners noted that the paving status of particular alleys is a Village Council question and that the Department of Public Works should address the number of curb cuts and access points allowed.
No formal motion or ordinance change was recorded at the meeting; the topic was left for further review. The commission listed a report on driveway standards among items for its next regular meeting on July 15, 2026.
