Suttons Bay council approves $22,900 contract for marina dredge plan as lake levels fall

The Suttons Bay Village Council voted Feb. 17, 2026 to contract with Machin Engineering to prepare dredge plans and specifications, handle joint permitting and provide bidding services for the marina for a fee not to exceed $22,900.
Harbor Master Edie Aylsworth told the council that the engineering services and marina dredging were not budgeted but that funds are available in the village Capital Improvements Plan (CIP). She said lake levels are low and the village is "predicting an additional 5–7 inches lower than last year." Christensen moved the contract authorization and Bahle seconded; the motion carried 4-0 with three members absent.
The contract covers development of dredge plans and specifications, joint permitting and bidding services so the village can solicit contractors. Council did not discuss a construction schedule or contractor selection at the meeting; those steps will follow permitting and bidding.
