Suttons Bay council unanimously approves $1.325 million low bid for marina boater service building

Staff member Larrea summarized the sealed-bid process for project #WW24-0008, saying bids were opened June 10, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Six contractors submitted proposals, and the lowest bid—$1,325,000—came from Eckler Building Solutions. Larrea said that amount was “a lot higher than we were originally told” and added that staff will look for areas to reduce costs and begin seeking additional financing.
The council expressed consensus that it was time to move forward with a new facility. President Lutke moved and Council member Christensen supported a motion to adopt Resolution 2 of 2026, authorizing the Village of Suttons Bay Marina and the Downtown Development Authority to fund the public building and boater service project and to accept the low bid of $1,325,000 to construct the structure. The motion passed on a roll call vote of Bahle-Yes, Christensen-Yes, Lutke-Yes, Perkins-Yes, Smith-Yes, Suppes-Yes and Yoder-Yes (7-0).
There were no public comments. The meeting adjourned at 8:08 a.m. Village Clerk Dorothy Petroskey prepared the minutes.
