Pleasantville council adopts FY 2026–2027 budget, approves routine measures

The Pleasantville City Council adopted Resolution 26-11 approving the FY 2026–2027 budget at its April 21 meeting. Kyle Patterson moved to adopt the resolution and Chelsea Kain seconded; Council Members Aaron Hurt, Rachel Lopez, Chelsea Kain and Kyle Patterson voted aye and the motion carried.
City Clerk/Admin Rachel Reed told the council the proposed budget includes a $1.16 decrease in the levy. The council had opened and closed the required public hearing earlier in the meeting with no public comments recorded.
The council also approved a routine consent agenda that included approval of prior meeting minutes, March 2026 financial reports, the March water consumption report, employee comp time, the police report, and liquor-license renewals for Lakefront Living LLC and Checkerboard Restaurant Inc. The meeting record lists an Accounts Payable total of $217,141.20, a Report Total of $256,250.38 and payroll checks totaling $39,109.18.
Other votes taken by the council included: approval of a tax abatement for 805 S Columbus St; authorization to purchase ten patriotic downtown pole banners for $936.50 using local option sales tax funds; and a motion to set a public hearing on a FY 2026 budget amendment for May 19, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. Where motions and seconds were recorded, they were introduced by council members and passed unanimously.
No formal ordinances other than Resolution 26-11 were adopted at the meeting. The council adjourned after concluding Old Business.
