The Stronach Township Board of Review met March 10–11, 2025, in Manistee County and acted on 11 petitions contesting property assessments and requesting poverty exemptions. The board reduced assessed values for multiple properties, granted two full poverty exemptions and tabled one application pending completion of an asset test.
The board approved petition 25-01 from Timothy Brothers (4875 Skocelas Rd.), reducing the property's front footage from 400 feet to 260 feet and lowering the assessed value from $236,100 to $180,700 (taxable value adjusted to $180,700). Two poverty-exemption requests, petitions 25-02 (Loraine Monger, 3875 Skocelas Rd.) and 25-03 (John Monnot, 10392 Big Buck Dr.), were granted 100% exemptions.
The board denied petition 25-04 (John Compton, 80 Horshoe Bend Rd.), finding the assessment fair and equitable. For petition 25-05 (Wayne Robbins, 425 Kettle Hole Rd.), the board reduced assessed value from $319,900 to $294,000 and adjusted the taxable value from $299,406 to $279,328. Petition 25-06 (Richard Anderson, 6027 Pine Creek Rd.) was found fair and equitable and no change was made.
Petition 25-07 (Sara Spore and Christopher Lentz, 2315 Stronach Rd.) resulted in a reduction of front footage from 400 to 150 feet and an assessed-value change from $257,200 to $207,200. Petition 25-08 (James Evans, 10418 Pine Creek Rd.) was adjusted to remove a wood stove and a garage heater no longer present; assessed value changed from $190,000 to $187,800 and taxable value from $172,280 to $170,285.
Petition 25-09 (Daniel and Kay Long, 4765 Cabrefae Hwy.) was tabled because the asset test was incomplete; the board scheduled follow-up at the July Board of Review. Petitions 25-10 (Scott Booth, regarding 7255 Six Mi Bridge Rd.) and 25-11 (Travis Hall, 2853 Skocelas Rd.) were upheld as fair and equitable and no changes were made.
Minutes for both days were recorded by acting secretary Phil Vadeboncoeur. The meeting adjourned both days at 7:30 p.m. The board did not record formal vote tallies or mover/second information in the minutes provided; where a petition records a decision above it is taken from the recorded disposition in the meeting minutes.
