Sherman officials flag roughly $600,000 estimate to resurface Anderson Road; Town Meeting approval needed

First Selectman Don Lowe told the Board of Selectmen on May 28 that repaving Anderson Road carries an estimated cost of approximately $600,000 and that fall would be a possible start date.
Business Manager Liz LaVia told the board that the town has already spent $325,000 of this year’s budgeted funds for roadwork and that $330,000 will become available on July 1. LaVia said the project would need further research and that any additional funding or reallocation would require referral to Town Meeting for approval. "The repaving cost [is] approximately $600,000," Don Lowe said during the discussion.
The board did not vote on the project at the May meeting; Don Lowe said more information is necessary before the board can place the item on a Town Meeting warrant. No timetable or contractor selection was announced. LaVia’s note that available funds increase on July 1 indicates the town could consider a supplemental appropriation or reallocation this summer if the board and voters agree.
What happens next: the Board moved the item to the June meeting for further study when Selectman Joel Bruzinski is expected to be present. The board directed staff to collect additional cost details and schedule options before placing the matter before voters at Town Meeting.
