Wakefield board signs director contract, plans job-description review and committee reorganizations

Trustees agreed that signing the contract now is prudent (to preserve the upcoming evaluation schedule) and that a job-description subcommittee should update the language once the town's new HR representative is in place in July. Members proposed minor amendments later if necessary and said an amendment could update the referenced job-description date.
The board unanimously reapproved its existing slate for the executive committee and confirmed membership and chairs for subcommittees (budget, facilities, friends, legislative advocacy and personnel). Trustees also voted to maintain existing accounting signers for accounts payable and payroll contingencies.
On scheduling, members approved the meeting calendar and amended the holiday schedule to reflect Juneteenth observance on Saturday, June 19 (the library will be closed on that date; staff time-off arrangements were clarified). The meeting adjourned by unanimous vote.
What's next: Trustees will form the personnel subcommittee over the summer and coordinate with the town HR representative to complete the updated job descriptions before finalizing any contract amendments.
