Mercer County Commission approves maintenance purchases, authorizes job posting and pays $100,069 in bills

At its June 3 meeting, the Mercer County Commission approved a set of routine administrative measures including maintenance purchases, a safety funding deposit, a personnel advertising request and payment of vendor bills.
Building Maintenance Supervisor Jim Albers requested purchase of four safety bollards for the Stanton and Beulah site fuel tanks. The commission approved the purchase with a maximum cost of $4,000. Albers also presented a 2026 WSI CEG Safety Check in the amount of $35,338.26; the commission voted to deposit that check into Risk Management (WSI) Fund #2105 for risk management activities.
The commission granted permission for a Flag Retirement Ceremony requested by Hazen Legion member and Hazen Scoutmaster Steven Eid, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park in Hazen. Commissioners also placed a J2 Studio invoice for $3,330.00 with the bills and approved advertising for a new Tax Department Code Enforcement Officer/Building Inspector position upon motion by Commissioner Casey Voigt.
During the meeting's voucher review the commission approved payment of listed bills with a total of $100,069.02. The minutes list each vendor and amount approved for payment; the record shows motions and unanimous or 'all voted aye' approvals for the actions described.
