The Pleasant Grove City Council voted to adopt the 2025–26 budget and approved a set of routine administrative measures at its meeting.
When a resident asked about the total budget, the mayor said the city’s total budget for the year is "a little over 8 million" with a shortfall of about $35,000; the mayor added the city has funds on hand to cover that shortfall. After discussion and prior work sessions, the council moved to approve the budget as discussed and amended and the motion passed.
In consent and housekeeping items the council also:
- Approved Resolution No. 2025-35 authorizing a yearly pole-attachment agreement with Alabama Power Company to permit holiday decorations on utility poles. - Appointed Mr. Ricardo Cobb as city clerk; the appointment was confirmed by council vote and Cobb was congratulated. - Approved payment of bills read aloud in the meeting (amount cited in the meeting as approximately $305,800). - Announced committee and board appointments including a newly formed public works committee and chairs for finance, streets, personnel, public safety, planning, parks, library, beautification and historical commission; one board of adjustments appointment remains pending.
Councilors said they will provide maps and supporting materials to the public for items that require additional review and encouraged residents to consult cityofpg.com and the City of Pleasant Grove Facebook page for updates.
