The Pleasant Grove City Council paused to thank outgoing council members for their service and heard a series of public-safety and community updates from city staff.
Council formally acknowledged outgoing members and allowed departing councilors time to speak. Several outgoing members recounted accomplishments during their terms, citing investments in public safety and education, including a $1 million contribution to the Jefferson County Board of Education and donated land that facilitated construction of the city high school.
In departmental reports, Mr. Cobb told the council that an officer resigned last week to join another agency and that the department received a highly qualified applicant who cleared background checks and is expected to start after the new council is seated. Mr. Cobb also urged residents to drive cautiously around trick-or-treaters, said the police department will distribute glow-in-the-dark bracelets for children, and warned that the city remains in drought conditions despite recent rainfall.
Chief Reid presented a token of appreciation to Counselor Calhoun, describing the "coin of excellence" as an award for dedicated service and partnership to public safety. Attorney Terry had no report.
Miss Dansby offered a citizen comment thanking the police for checking her property during an alarm incident while she was out of state; she said reviewing camera footage reassured her that the perimeter was secure.
