Pleasant Grove park-board members raised concerns that falling leaves, overgrowth and debris are causing damage to courts and said routine pruning and leaf removal are needed to protect playing surfaces. Members acknowledged public-works priorities — potholes, overgrown roadside branches and building maintenance — limit the staff available to do court cleanup regularly.
Board members asked staff to copy the board on maintenance notifications so volunteers can fill interim gaps. One member suggested rotating volunteer shifts to cover inspections between rentals and to blow leaves when needed.
Separately, members reported soliciting quotes to renovate a small basketball court. Options under consideration included replacing damaged backboards, installing benches and repainting lines. Several participants noted the existing poles appeared structurally sound and could be reused to cut costs; one member described the plan as "cost effective" and said he expected to present written estimates to the board once received.
No formal procurement decisions were recorded. The board asked for consolidated estimates and clarified that any contractor scope and fees would be brought back to the board and, if necessary, to the council.
