The Pleasantville City Council approved several smaller but immediate items at its April 21 meeting.
Clerk Rachel Reed told the council approximately $12,000 remains in the Shadle Park Project fund and asked whether the council wanted the money returned to the Local Option Sales Tax fund or used for additional pond-area improvements. Councilmember Chelsea Kain said the Pleasantville Betterment Organization is fundraising to complete park path lighting; Mayor Kody Jurgens expressed interest in dedicating a portion of the remaining funds to repair the existing dock. The council agreed to have Public Works inspect the dock and proceed with any necessary repairs.
On routine motions the council approved purchasing ten D539 patriotic pole banners for downtown from the LOST fund for $936.50 (motion by Aaron Hurt, seconded by Rachel Lopez), and approved a tax abatement for 805 S Columbus St (motion by Kyle Patterson, seconded by Rachel Lopez). Both motions were recorded as passing with all voting in favor.
These actions advance planned park improvements and small downtown beautification while the council continues broader capital planning.
