Mayor Nicholas Lindberg formally resigned his position at the Casey City Council meeting on July 7, 2025, and the council voted to accept his resignation.
The council then moved to fill the vacancy by appointment. After receiving a single application for the post, the council voted to appoint Bruce Vorm to serve as mayor until the next city election. The motion to accept Lindberg’s resignation was moved by Councilmember Rick Blake and seconded by Rick Richter; the appointment of Vorm was moved by Leland Acker and seconded by Richter. Recorded votes on both motions were Ayes — Richter, Acker and Blake; Councilmembers Schiller and Wedemeyer were absent.
The appointment is effective immediately and will stand until the next municipal election, when the seat will be filled by voters. The council did not record any additional procedural steps beyond the appointment at the meeting.
The council adjourned at 8:40 p.m. after concluding business for the evening.
