The Casey City Council on May 5 adopted the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026 annual budget and approved a series of payments and draw requests tied to the ongoing Water Main Improvement Project.
The council approved Resolution No. 2025-08 adopting the FY2026 budget by roll-call vote (Acker, Richter, Schiller, Blake voting aye; Wedemeyer absent). A public hearing on the proposed budget produced no oral or written comments, Clerk Gwen Blass said.
Council also approved several project disbursements for the water main work. The body approved Pay Estimate No. 4 for Max Smith Construction LLC for $78,315.28; a CDBG draw request (GAX #5) for $45,838.00; and an SRF loan distribution request (Claim Draw #5) for $37,834.18. Earlier in the meeting the claims list included a prior Water Main Project draw to Max Smith Construction LLC of $35,403.64.
Clerk Blass told the council the FY2026 budget documents would be delivered to Guthrie and Adair counties and submitted to the State on May 6. The approvals allow the city to continue project work and to request reimbursement through CDBG and SRF funding mechanisms.
Votes at a glance from the meeting include the budget adoption (Resolution #2025-08) and the three water-project disbursements, each passed by roll call with Acker, Richter, Schiller and Blake voting aye and Wedemeyer recorded as absent.
What’s next: the budget documents will be filed with county and state officials on May 6; the approved draws and pay estimate authorize payment activity for the Water Main Improvement Project and support contractor progress.
