Sylvan Lake approves Cadillac Asphalt estimate for 2025 paving program

Sylvan Lake City Council approved a paving program estimate from Cadillac Asphalt at the July 31 special meeting and authorized the City Manager to execute the agreement after review by the City Attorney.
City Manager Martin recommended milling/capping and repaving on Garland (Oakwood to Pontiac Drive), Pontiac Drive (Garland to Avondale/city limits), Benvenue (Garland to Pontiac Drive), Avondale (Pontiac Drive to Inverness) and Central. Martin said the work follows the city’s past process and noted the infrastructure fund’s cash flow will cover the project; he also requested better contractor communication and resident notification during construction.
Councilmember Clarke expressed interest in including Pontiac Drive to Lakeview in a future paving cycle but supported the recommended list for this year. The motion to approve the 2024/25 paving project estimate with Cadillac Asphalt passed unanimously by the members voting at the time (Clarke, Cowper, Segal, Buchanan). Zubrzycki had departed prior to the vote.
The City Manager will finalize the agreement with Cadillac Asphalt after City Attorney review and coordinate resident notification about the schedule and traffic impacts.
