Aliceville council assesses $8,150.68 demolition cost, approves permits and proclamations

The council voted to put the concession stand at the city park out for bid and to accept bids at the next meeting; in the interim the council voted to permit Demetrius Miller to operate the stand for two weeks to cover upcoming games and practices.
The council appointed the mayor, the mayor pro tem and councilmember identified in the record as "Miss B" to serve as voting delegates to the Alabama League conference. Members approved a parade permit for the Multiple Sclerosis Walk, amending the event date from March 28 to March 29, and approved a separate parade permit to honor fallen Staff Sergeant Tommy S. Little scheduled for April 26, 2025.
The council approved a special-event license for the National Wild Turkey Federation to use Aliceville City Hall as part of a regional banquet; the chair noted the Alabama ABC board had approved the alcohol portion and reminded the council that only five special-event permits may be issued to a given organizer per year.
A Black History Month proclamation recognizing Feb. 25, 2025 and encouraging residents to participate in educational and cultural activities also passed unanimously. The council approved routine accounts payable and other monthly reports before moving to executive session.
